Lars Arrhenius
Lars Arrhenius has been an important part of SPECTA’s program and activities since 1999, both as an artist and as a person and friend.
Lars Arrhenius was curious to the bone, always in the process of making new projects and new formats, and determined to never standing still. Society and human behavior were Lars' focus, and through his works he managed to pin point our time with equal parts cynicism and disarming humor. His many ideas and fantastic drive went far beyond the usual field of visual arts, and in addition to animated films, graphics and large public works he has made music, children's TV, pictogram app, scenography and also a series of board games which he developed with Eric Ericsson. During his last years, Lars Arrhenius was strongly committed to fighting climate change through the #artistforfuture movement and through exhibitions and new projects.
Together with Eric Ericsson, Lars Arrhenius made his latest work, which is permanently installed in the forest at Djurgården (at the Kaknästornet) in Stockholm: "Här vilar framtiden” - “Here rests the future". Part of the future is now gone, and we will forever miss Lars Arrhenius' eminent artistic work and his wonderful company.
